What is Zero Gravity Positioning?

"Gravity is a habit that is hard to shake off" ~ Terry Pratchett. The natural phenomenon of gravity keeps us centered and our feet on the ground, but that pull can take its toll on your body.  When your body is positioned in zero gravity, you are reclined so that your body is positioned evenly. This position, discovered by NASA, is like that of an astronaut’s position during lift off for space missions. With the increase in the force of gravity during lift off, it is very important for astronauts to place themselves in a way that their body can deal with the increased force; this reclined position distributes stress over the full body.

Benefits of this distributed positioning includes:

  • Spine decompression
  • Increased blood circulation
  • Decreased lower back and neck pain
  • Improved blood flow with reduced pressure on your heart

Yeah, astronauts!  We use zero-gravity positioning in three of our primary services: NuCalm, Medical Grade Massage and Compression Chairs and in our Salt Cabin.  Of those, only the chairs in the salt cabin require any effort to get into position!  We would have used fancier ones in there, but, the super beneficial medical grade salt doesn't play nice with the plush leather of our favorite chairs so we use the outdoor version of the chairs instead.

You don’t have to be an astronaut to reap the benefits of zero gravity.  Minimizing the pressure on your body, specifically your back, allows for a more relaxed, enhanced experience when enjoying NuCalm, Salt therapy and our Massage & Compression services at the Lounge.

Zero Gravity & NuCalm

NuCalm is designed to bring you into a deeply relaxed state. Our Svago Zero Gravity chairs enhance this service by minimizing as much noise from your back and muscles as possible so that your body isn’t fighting the experience.  If you’ve ever tried to do a guided meditation with a sore back, you’ll understand what we're talking about!  This stress-free position, coupled with heat on your back and a weighted blanket, help the NuCalm neuroscience do its thing.  We love these chairs so much that we even offer them for re-sale!

Zero Gravity & HALoTHERAPY

When enjoying our salt cabin, and reaping the benefits of halotherapy (salt therapy) for your respiratory system and your skin, being relaxed and comfortable facilitates deep breathing and relaxation.

Zero Gravity & Massage & Compression

People are falling in love with our massage chairs and we can't blame them. This is no airport massage chair. This is a medical grade machine that delivers full body massage in combination with compression. The feeling is magical and it's made so much more delightful when enjoyed in zero gravity.

No matter which service you try it with, you'll figure out why zero gravity is out of this world!
