How may Reiki support your overall wellbeing?

Many people find that Reiki sessions support relaxation, help them unwind from stress, and offer comfort alongside their regular self-care. Individual experiences vary, but Reiki has been reported by clients to:

  • Encourage a calm, meditative-like state.
  • Offer comfort and relaxation as your body recovers from injury or surgery, as guided by your healthcare provider.
  • Support your body’s immune system.
  • Create a soothing environment that may help your body’s natural relaxation and recovery processes.
  • Help ease feelings of tension and discomfort.
  • Offer gentle, non-invasive support for overall comfort and emotional well-being alongside traditional medical treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, or kidney dialysis, when approved by your healthcare team.

At Reset Lounge, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, our reiki practitioners are looking forward to meeting you!

What is a Reiki session like?

You will relax fully clothed on a massage table in a quiet setting with low lights and soft music.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner gently places their hands, palms down, on or just above your body in specific areas associated with traditional energy pathways. They typically use a series of 12 to 15 hand positions to encourage deep relaxation and support your body’s natural ability to rest and rebalance. There is no pressure, massage, or tissue manipulation involved.

During the session, you may drift toward sleep, notice warmth or gentle tingling, or simply feel quiet and still—and sometimes you may not notice any distinct sensations at all. Each session is unique, and many guests report feeling more relaxed, centered, and supported in their overall sense of wellness afterward

Why do healthcare organizations, like the Cleveland Clinic, offer Reiki?

Large healthcare organizations like Cleveland Clinic include Reiki as an optional, complementary service to support comfort and relaxation for some patients. Their integrative medicine team offers Reiki alongside conventional care—not as a replacement for medical treatment, but as an additional way to help patients feel more at ease, supported, and cared for during their health journey.

At Reset Lounge, we share a similar intention: to provide a gentle, non-invasive experience that can complement your existing self-care and medical care, while always encouraging you to follow the guidance of your healthcare providers

Is reiki right for me?

Reiki can be a gentle option for people who are looking for extra support with relaxation, stress relief, or overall balance. It’s especially appealing if you enjoy quiet, nurturing touch or hands-off energy work. Reiki is not a replacement for medical care, and it may not be appropriate for every situation. If you have specific health concerns, we encourage you to talk with your healthcare provider about whether Reiki is a good complement to your existing care.

How does Reiki compare to Massage Therapy?

While both Reiki and massage can feel deeply relaxing, they’re quite different experiences. Massage typically involves pressure, muscle and tissue work, and the use of lotions or oils. Reiki is a very light-touch or hands-off practice focused on still hand placements and calming energy. You remain fully clothed, and there is no muscle manipulation. Some guests enjoy Reiki on its own, while others like to pair it with massage or other wellness services as part of a broader self-care routine.

What should I expect after a Reiki session?

After a Reiki session, many guests describe feeling more relaxed, calm, or centered. Some feel refreshed and energized; others feel ready for rest. You may notice subtle shifts over the rest of the day, or you may simply feel that you had some quiet time just for you. Because everyone’s experience is unique, there’s no “right” way to feel. If you have ongoing medical concerns or new symptoms, it’s important to follow up with your healthcare provider.

Can Reiki complement medical treatments?

Yes, Reiki is often used as a gentle, complementary practice alongside traditional medical treatments. Some people find that it helps them feel more at ease emotionally or physically as they move through experiences like surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or dialysis. Reiki is not a medical treatment and does not replace the care you receive from your healthcare team. If you’re currently under medical care, we recommend checking with your provider before adding Reiki, so your whole care team can support you together.

Do I need to believe in Reiki for it to help me relax?

You don’t need any particular beliefs or prior experience to try Reiki. Many guests simply come in with an open mind and curiosity. Some feel noticeable shifts during or after a session; others simply appreciate having a quiet, restorative space to rest. Our practitioners will meet you exactly where you are and create a comforting environment, whether you’re new to Reiki or have explored it before.
