PART I: Understanding Cryotherapy

What is Cryotherapy?

Most methods of non-surgical fat removal primarily involve necrotic cell death, which solely involves damaging fat with heat, high-intensity ultrasound, or chemical injections.

celulliteThe problem?

Unlike the thermal shock effect delivered by Cryo T-Shock, the surrounding tissue isn't preserved so the pure reduction of fat cells is not achieved. With T-Shock, the reduction of fat with the preservation of surrounding non-fat tissue offers a more dramatic firming effect.

Pagani’s Cryo Thermal ‘T-Shock’ technology is a simple, all-natural, non-invasive, and painless treatment technique delivering alternating cryogenic (cold) and thermal heat (warm) benefits during treatments. This effectively ‘shocks’ skin and/or fat cells. Alternating between hot and cold has a more dramatic effect than hot or cold applied individually. The two components, administered in sequence, according to precise protocols, produce a localized and deep thermal shock effect. Times, temperatures, and sequences change automatically. The technician selects from a list of pre-programmed protocols which vary by the targeted body part and sex of the person.

This innovative thermal shock therapy:

  • Freezes/reduces fat cells so that the body can naturally process and eliminate them
  • Reduces cellulite by smoothing out the skin and dimples
  • Tightens and tones loose or crepey skin
  • Increases collagen and elastin for smoother, more youthful skin
  • Provides pain relief and reduces swelling in therapeutic applications from injury, muscle strain, or tendonitis

Our T-Shock-certified technicians administer precise therapeutic protocols so that each session is fine-tuned for maximum benefit.

The History of Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy—while it sounds like a modern treatment, is quite ancient. Cryotherapy refers to the use of cold therapy to treat various conditions. The earliest reference to the use of cryotherapy is from an Egyptian papyrus that dates to 1501 BC. Hippocrates, the traditional father of Western medicine, prescribed the use of cold treatment to alleviate swelling and pain in 400 BC. Over time, cryotherapy has evolved to treat a myriad of health conditions. Let’s take a look at this versatile treatment through history and uncover how it's used today.

Early Uses of Cryotherapy

cold reliefThe earliest uses of cryotherapy focused on pain and inflammation relief. In fact, we still readily run to our home freezers to grab ice or a cold pack to reduce inflammation or pain after a fall or minor injury. The Egyptians used cold compresses complemented by fruit and other various natural ingredients to treat skin irritations. While the ancients also knew that cold treatments had powerful fever-reducing potential, they also were aware that the use of cold therapies had to be moderated to avoid its negative effects. For instance, excessive exposure to cold could cause gangrene or fits of shivering.

Later, physicians began to prescribe cold bathing for the treatment of aches and pains. During Jane Austen's early 19th century era, ‘taking the waters' came into vogue among those in the higher tiers of society, and spa culture developed in various parts of Europe as part therapy, part holiday.

In 1845, cold therapy took a definitively modern turn when Dr. James Arnott discovered that it could alleviate migraines and symptoms of neuralgia. Shortly after, he discovered that cold temperatures could actually shrink tumors. His work paved the way for new advances and ideas about using ‘cryotherapy' to treat various types of health conditions.

Modern Uses of Cryotherapy

Arnott's cold therapy discoveries led to crucial developments in technology. Scientists created new inventions for developing and handling liquid gas like vacuum flasks. Just before the end of the 19th century, commercialized liquefaction of air took its place in medicine as well as various other industries. These advances led to what we know today as modern cryotherapy, which is used to treat everything from abnormal cervical cells to rheumatoid arthritis.

One of today's new advances is the use of cryotherapy to promote weight loss. Known as Cryo Thermal T-Shock treatment, this form of cryotherapy targets fat cells, freezing them so that the body can then naturally process and remove them. For stubborn fat pockets and cellulite, Cryo T-Shock treatment offers individuals an effective and non-invasive means for getting rid of unwanted fat. Plus, there's no pain involved in this innovative treatment.

What is Lipolysis and How Does it Relate to Cryo T-Shock?

lipolysisFocusing on body contouring (slimming and cellulite reduction), T-Shock targets adipose tissue to induce lipolysis—the breaking down of fat cells—to reduce body fat without damage to other tissues. This sounds great, but what does all this really mean? Are there side effects? How does T-Shock differ from other temperature-based slimming tools? Let’s break it down!

First Things First: The Explanation

ReSet’s slimming, toning and cellulite treatments utilize the Pagani T-Shock device for several reasons. First, it’s non-invasive and exploits a natural process in our bodies. Second, it does not have the side effects of other devices in the market. Third, it is a more reasonably priced application, making it affordable for many more people.

The T-Shock method consists of a specially developed technique where warm and cold temperatures are utilized and applied directly to your skin with a wand. Based on the result you are trying to achieve, the device runs strict protocols to keep temperature ranges precise during the session. Certified therapists manage the level of pressure, particular motion required and surface area covered throughout the session.

What is Lipolysis and How Is It Induced?

Lipolysis is the destruction of fat cells. It is induced during the T-Shock session by the synergy of the thermal shock (warm and cold). The adipocytes cannot survive. Some of the fat cells are eliminated during the session and the rest are flushed away through the lymphatic system.

What is Adipose Tissue?

When we talk about inducing lipolysis to target adipose tissue, that tissue is simply fat cells. Adipocytes are the cells in the body specializing in storing fats.

How Is the Lymphatic System Involved?

The dead fat cells are evacuated through the lymphatic system and will eventually pass through the kidneys. Waiting every two weeks between slimming or cellulite sessions ensures that the lymphatic system and kidneys are not overloaded.

We want you to achieve the best possible results from your treatments, so it is important to get your lymphatic system working after an appointment. This can be achieved at ReSet by using the Whole Body Vibration plate or by enjoying an Infrared Sauna Session. Another option is to get in a good 30-minute cardio workout.

How Does the T-Shock Treatment Keep from Damaging the Skin?

Fat cells have a higher sensitivity to temperature than skin cells. Therefore, this leaves the surrounding skin undamaged.

Can T-Shock Cause Adverse Effects Such as Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia?

Fat and cellulite reduction treatments performed with the Cryo T-Shock cannot cause this condition as there is no suction involved and the wand is constantly moving during a session.

The Role of the Lymphatic System in Cryotherapy

Keeping the lymphatic system flowing as it should is an integral part of our overall well-being. The main function of the lymphatic system is to act as a filtration and drainage system for the entire body. Without it, our immune and cardiovascular systems could not function.

How Does the Lymphatic System Support Immunity?

lymphatic systemWhen oxygenated, nutrient-rich blood moves from the circulatory system into the body’s tissues, fluids containing waste products are reabsorbed by the circulatory system to be filtered. However, some of the waste tissue cannot be absorbed by the bloodstream. These remaining waste fluids are left in the tissues, where they may cause swelling and illness if not removed. That’s where the lymphatic system comes in.

When functioning optimally, the lymphatic system removes excess, waste-filled fluid from the body’s tissues. The lymphatic capillaries are unique in that they are big enough to absorb the larger organisms that can cause disease throughout the body. Once inside the lymphatic capillaries, the waste fluid (lymph) is passed through lymph nodes, which cleanse the fluids and return them to the bloodstream. The lymph nodes contain immune cells that swallow up any unwanted invaders such as bacteria, viruses, and even cancer cells.

How Does the Lymphatic System Support Weight Management?

When our body digests food, many systems work together to make sure nutrients get where they need to go. The lymphatic system is responsible for the absorption of nutrients from lipids (fats.) The lymphatic system absorbs digestive fats so that they can be used as energy. When fat absorption is impaired, it begins to accumulate in the body, which leads to weight gain.

The connection between an improperly functioning lymphatic system and metabolic diseases, obesity, and excess weight gain is starting to be looked at more closely. Recent studies are showing that when the lymphatic system can’t do its job, excess fat builds up in the tissues. So what can you do to ensure the lymphatic system works optimally?

Lymphatic Support with Cryo T-Shock

Movement is the single most effective way to maintain a healthy lymphatic system. Movement through exercise and even very gentle stretches give the lymph a lot of support. The ReSet Lounge’s certified Personal Training staff can create a program tailored to your needs. However, movement of the lymph can also be encouraged by Cryo T-Shock therapy.

PART II: What is Cryo Good For?

Slimming and Toning Solutions

For many people, no matter how much we try to eat right and stay fit, certain areas can retain weight that must feel uncomfortable in our bodies. Researchers at Harvard Medical School have proven that the cold temperatures safely administered by Cryo T-Shock lead to the destruction and elimination of fat cells that don't respond to diet and exercise.

An Alternative to Surgery

tshock cryo toningReSet Lounge is thrilled to offer Cryo T-Shock therapy as a non-invasive, safe, and painless alternative to surgery. The Cryo T-Shock system is one of the most innovative technologies on the market and can support you in your journey to loving the skin you’re in.

Cryo T-Shock treatments work using an alternating cycle of hot and cold therapies. This method effectively “shocks” fat cells, which destroys them so they can be flushed out through the bloodstream. The entire process is painless and may even feel as comfortable as getting a massage. Not only does this cellular destruction cause the elimination of fat cells, but it also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, which reduces the appearance of cellulite, fine lines, and wrinkles.

No matter how our bodies look, we often get stuck on the idea that we need to “fix” something. It is vital to our well-being to learn to love our bodies in their uniqueness, but life often leaves its mark in ways we wish we could change. Having a healthy relationship with our bodies depends a lot on how we care for ourselves, but sometimes we need a little help. Whether you’re struggling with feeling confident in an outfit you love because of stubborn cellulite, or your post-partum tummy never quite bounced back, the Cryo T-Shock system is here to help.

Muscle Recovery and Pain

The thought of jumping in a full-body cryo tank or an ice bath is overwhelming for many. The use of cold, however, is a long-standing treatment for muscle pain and inflammation.

nick2cropAs we earlier mentioned, even the ancient Egyptians mention cold therapy. But what about heat therapy? Heat is also an effective treatment to provide relief from soft tissue injuries. Heat therapy works by improving blood flow and circulation to the treatment area which allows for oxidation of the muscles and improved healing times.

So which should you choose? Hot or cold? You can achieve relief for sore muscles and joints without having to decide. Local cryotherapy might be a palatable answer to your painful ailments! At ReSet, we use the Cryo T-Shock device for physiotherapy to alternate between the two and get the best results from each.

Physiotherapy with Thermal Shock

According to our friends at Skin Science Solutions: “Alternating hot and cold (thermal shock) provokes vasodilation and vasoconstriction, causing an increase in blood flow in the treated area. Pain relief occurs almost immediately and offers long-lasting pain relief. In addition, the functional improvement of joints and the general well-being of the treated area matures quickly. The hyperthermic heating cycles followed by a resting phase, stimulate the opening-closing of the small vessels of the circle, optimizing revascularization.”

The thermal shock treatment is:

  • Anti-inflammatory—The alternating heat and cold slows down cellular metabolism, which reduces the production and release of chemical inflammatory mediators
  • Anti-edema (swelling)—Anti-inflammatory action and vasoconstriction limit adjacent tissue contamination
  • Analgesic—Capable of inhibiting nerve endings, which slow nerve conduction of pain and reduce inflammation
  • Muscle Relaxing—Rapid hot/cold exchanges reduce muscle stimulation

Uses of Cryo T-Shock for Pain and Inflammation

ReSet clients who’ve benefited from T-Shock physiotherapy appointments include in-season athletes and those with chronic pain or who are recovering from an injury. We are proud that some of our clients have used the treatments to compete regionally in soccer and nationally in gymnastics!

If you suffer from any of the below, we can help!

  • Tennis/Golfers Elbow
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Calf/Hamstring Injury
  • Soreness
  • Strains
  • Tears
  • Pulled Muscles
  • Swelling
  • Tendonitis
  • Shin Splints

Pain Area of Focus: Tendonitis

tendonitisTendonitis (sometimes referred to as tennis elbow) is an inflammation of the tendons, resulting in pain and sometimes swelling in the joints. It can be caused by a sudden injury but is more commonly the result of an activity that requires repetitive bending and straightening of a joint. This condition, therefore, is commonly seen in tennis players—hence the name—since they are often performing the same racquet movements over and over. In fact, 50% of tennis players will experience tendonitis at some point.

But tennis (and other racquet sports) isn’t the only cause for this ache in your elbow. Tendonitis is also commonly seen in those that play basketball, baseball, and volleyball. Adults who work in construction, plumbing, and on computers also can suffer from it. Even activities around the house such as painting, gardening, and even knitting can bring this on. There are many causes for this painful ailment.

How to Help Ease the Pain of Tendonitis

Tennis Elbow can derail your athletic plans, but it doesn’t have to. If you find yourself suffering from Tennis Elbow, many modalities can help.

Cryo T-Shock therapy can support your healing process and help relieve you of the stress of chronic pain. It is non-invasive and painless for localized treatment. This technique delivers alternating cold and warm treatments to encourage faster healing. Cryo (cold) therapy has been proven to reduce inflammation while thermal (heat) treatments stimulate circulation, speeding up the body’s natural healing process. An infrared is another effective way to increase circulation and can be used along with your Cryo T-Shock treatments.

Sessions with the FDA-cleared Nuefit Neubie can not only calm an injury area but can also strengthen surrounding muscles to prevent injury. The Neubie device applies direct current to the surrounding muscles resolving the actions your body takes to compensate for injury and protect the tendon. If your muscles are strong enough for the activities you enjoy, the activities have less ability to impact your tendons.

One of the most important components of a tendonitis recovery protocol is encouraging lymphatic drainage from the area. Drainage of the lymph allows waste products to be carried away from the injured area so the body can heal efficiently. Cryo T-Shock has been shown to increase lymphatic drainage. Whole-body vibration therapy is specifically designed to get your lymph system working and massage is another great way to encourage efficient lymphatic drainage. Pairing Cryo T-Shock therapy with a massage chair session or a whole-body session can promote even faster healing. If left untreated, Tennis Elbow can become chronic, so it is important to seek treatment quickly.

Skin Help: Anti-Aging

Estelle Getty once said, “Age does not bring you wisdom, age brings you wrinkles.” The latter part of that quote is arguably true! There are definite changes in skin and overall appearance that occur with aging. Sun exposure also plays a predictable part. In fact, UV exposure may account for up 80% of visible signs of aging skin.

So what’s a person to do? How can you slow aging down – while still going outside? Sunscreen is one obvious answer. But by using controlled temperature, as we do with our Cryo T-Shock machine, some of these changes can be mitigated in a non-invasive, safe manner.

Why is Young Skin Better?

bigstock-Healthy-Mature-Female-Face-Clo-469948683Young skin contains plenty of collagen and elastin—the proteins which give skin its structure and ability to stretch. As we age, these start to decline due to hormonal changes. Our ability to heal also slows down, leading to decreased skin elasticity. This loss of elasticity is also accelerated by decreased production of natural oils and oxidative stress from sun exposure, smoking, pollution, lack of sleep, and poor nutrition (including excessive sugar consumption). Gravity has an impact too. As the skin stretches and loses its elasticity—compounded by the loss of structure from underlying fat, muscle, and bone—skin starts to show signs of aging, from fine lines to sagging.

At What Age Does Skin Lose Elasticity?

Collagen production starts to decline around 25 years of age, decreasing approximately 1-2% per year afterward. Skin noticeably starts to lose its elasticity in your 30s to 40s and particularly in the first five years of menopause when women’s skin loses around 30% of its collagen. Men and women lose collagen at roughly the same rate initially, but then women lose it faster after menopause for about five years but the rate then slows again. Men’s skin ages gradually, by contrast. The rate at which skin loses elasticity does also vary somewhat from person to person, however, according to genetics and lifestyle.

How Can Cryo T-Shock Help My Face to Look Firm and Rejuvenated?

Skin Science Solutions, which utilizes credible research to support this technology, states:

“Skin ages due to a reduction in collagen and elastin. By increasing oxygen and nutrient supply to the tissue, thermal shock promotes a more youthful appearance. When applied to the face and neck, consistently, this contrast therapy stimulates the production of collagen and improves skin elasticity, effectively smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles. Other benefits include reducing puffiness around the eyes, and giving the impression of reduced pore size on the face and neck while lessening inflammation. Not to mention that while skin vessels and capillaries undergo a period of vasoconstriction to break down toxins stored in skin layers; an alternating cycle of vasodilation efficiently expels the toxins from the body. This process paves the way for healthy skin cells to emerge for a taut, more supple appearance of facial skin.”

At ReSet Lounge, we offer a range of cryo facials appropriate for any age:

  • Anti-Aging/Cryo-Lift: These specifically programmed facials are particularly important for men and women over 35. It allows prevention and recovery from the signs of aging (wrinkles, lines, skin laxity, skin spots, etc.). Special protocols and a coupler to effectively reach areas around the eyes and mouth increase effectiveness.
  • Red Carpet Facial: Have a special event coming up? Our settings for the Red Carpet Facial quickly obtain smoother, radiant, luminous, toned skin lasting for 2 to 5 days.
  • Cupreous Skin: This application addresses Rosacea—a condition that causes redness and often small, red, pus-filled bumps on the face.
  • Brightening: This treatment is meant for acne, helping to blend and clear the problem areas. This type of facial has been incredibly beneficial for teens; calming areas and boosting confidence going into school events.

When and How Often Should I Receive a Cryo Facial?

With collagen and elastin production decreasing even in our 20s, we see many clients using cryo facials preventatively. For those in this age group, monthly, or even bi-monthly, facials can support anti-aging benefits.

One of our clients, Helen who is in her early 40s, wrote a terrific review that sums it up: “The Cryo Lift facial was amazing. I get Botox every couple of months. I decided to try the Cryo Lift Facial and I already see a huge difference. Bye, bye Botox!”

To achieve results on the face as Helen did, we recommend beginning with five treatments over a two-week period. This cadence helps to retain the feeling and appearance of firmness/toning over longer periods. Most clients can then move to a monthly maintenance facial. Happily, ReSet offers package pricing to help support frequent facials.

Are There Other Anti-Aging Cryo Options?

Resounding yes! Like most of us, we tend to focus on the face, but there are other areas of the body that cryotherapy can help with when it comes to anti-aging.

  • The overall appearance of aging is impacted by the neck and chest area as well. Décolleté toning and chin treatments can help your “portrait” look younger. The same principles apply to these protocols to lift and smooth.
  • Body Contouring and Toning: Gravity and lessening collagen and elastin impact our entire body. Fat reduction and toning treatments are highly effective for arms, legs, and torso.

But don’t just take our word for it—give cryotherapy a try for yourself!

Skin Help: Acne and Rosacea

tshock cryo facialWe all want to wake up in the morning, look at ourselves in the mirror, and feel good about the reflection staring back at us. But it’s frustrating to wake up only to be greeted by an acne breakout or a rosacea flareup. If you suffer from either (or both), you are well aware of the negative impact these conditions can have on your self-esteem. Both skin disorders can be frustrating and difficult to treat. A Cryo T-Shock facial can provide immediate relief from the discomfort of both of these skin conditions.

2 Common Skin Problems: Acne and Rosacea

According to the National Rosacea Society, “rosacea is flushing or redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead that may come and go.” Over time, it can also lead to thickening of the skin, acne, burning, stinging, and swelling. The cause of rosacea is unknown, but one theory that has remained popular among researchers is an imbalance in the microbiome of the skin results in the most persistent cases of rosacea.

Acne occurs when hair follicles become clogged, trapping bacteria in the pore, resulting in a pimple. When untreated, acne can cause a painful and persistent cycle of clogged pores, permanent scarring, and discoloration. Fortunately, Cryo T-Shock facials can help with both skin conditions in a unique and powerful way.

How a Cryo T-Shock Facial Can Help With These Skin Conditions

Cold facial treatments have been used for decades to make the skin look and feel fresh, less puffy, and more youthful. Professional Cryo (cold) facials can help with excessive oil production, soothe rosacea irritation, control redness, reduce acne, and prevent the occurrence of new pimples.

Pairing the power of a Cryo treatment with heat therapy is what makes the Cryo T-Shock facial uniquely effective. This alternation between hot and cold causes the blood vessels in the skin to open and close which increases circulation and activates immune cells to help get rid of bacteria. Cryo T-Shock facials work on a deeper level, rather than just working on the surface. The unique application of hot and cold treatments can help work on the underlying microbial imbalances that can contribute to acne and rosacea. The safe use of extreme temperatures destroys the bacteria that can cause these conditions.

Cryo T-Shock treatments are FDA-approved and offer a safe, painless, and natural alternative to more invasive treatment options. When applied by a trained professional, the extreme cold of a Cryo T-Shock facial can help with calming inflamed skin while the heat increases the delivery of fresh, nutrient-rich blood to the skin cells. The process is painless and can even feel like a relaxing facial massage. Many clients notice results after just one treatment. When used as a skincare regime, the benefits of Cryo T-Shock facials will increase over time. With consistent treatment, pore size will be reduced which limits the skin’s ability to take in toxins and dirt. The lymphatic system will more effectively flush away toxins that make it into the skin, and the skin’s appearance will consistently improve as a result.

For clients who wish to get control of their acne and rosacea, a regimen of 2-3 treatments per week is recommended. 5-10 sessions will provide optimal results. Once desired results are achieved general maintenance sessions are recommended once a month. Book your Cryo T-Shock facial and see the results for yourself. You deserve to have clear, beautiful skin, and Cryo T-Shock can get you there.

Preparing for a Big Event—The Cryo Timeline

When preparing for any celebration, the common questions come up: “What am I going to wear?” “How should I style my hair?” “How can I look my best?” Cryo T-Shock is the perfect non-invasive and natural way to prepare to look stunning at the big events on your calendar. Setting a timeline and strategy is important to achieve your goals.

T Minus 4 to 6 Months – Cryo Slimming

celebration slimdownWant to work on your tummy? Perhaps slim your arms for that amazing sleeveless dress you can’t wait to wear? Planning a timeline to achieve your slimming goals is important as spacing appointments every two weeks is necessary.

Cryo T-Shock uses warm and cold cycles in precision to target and eliminate fat cells. In doing so, your lymphatic system must be activated to release the eliminated cells, and spacing two weeks between slimming/contouring sessions keeps the lymph system from overloading.

Our certified technicians can help you set a plan and timeline. Some important considerations:

  • You Can’t Do Everything at Once: Multiple areas of the body can be treated at the same time; one large area and one small. For example, you could treat your stomach (large area) and the back of your arms (small area) in one session.
  • Set Reasonable Expectations: Often 5 to 10 treatments are needed to achieve results. During a consultation, an analysis is performed to help set the timeline. Note that if your BMI is over 35%, Cryo T-Shock will not be effective so strategies for loss should be employed first.
  • T-Shock Support: Implement other strategies to support your investment in T-Shock slimming.
    • Allow time after your appointment to stimulate your lymph system: a cardio workout, whole body vibration, an infrared sauna session, or a Hocatt session will help.
    • Avoid carbohydrates before and after a T-Shock slimming session.
    • Hydrate!
    • Focus on wellness every day with proper diet and exercise.

T Minus 2 Months - Toning

Perhaps fat cells aren’t the issue but sagging skin is a bother. T-Shock toning sessions can be performed more frequently than slimming, and they work to tighten and contour while promoting your skin’s natural elasticity. Areas frequently addressed include:

  • Arms
  • Stomach
  • Chin
  • Décolleté
  • Neck
  • Back of Hands

A consultation is also a good idea to set reasonable goals for Toning treatments. For example, the décolleté is generally a faster result than “turkey neck”.

T Minus 1.5 Months - Facials

Everyone wants to be picture ready! T-Shock facials are an amazing way to revitalize your skin.

  • Anti-Aging Facials: Our most comprehensive facial lifts, tones, and promotes the body’s collagen and elastin production. In addition to the T-Shock wand, a coupler is used to address fine lines around the eyes and mouth. We suggest setting a plan for 5 treatments within 2.5 weeks of your special event.
  • Brightening Facials: Help calm acne and it can be done within a day of your event.
  • Red-Carpet Facials: Aptly named, this facial technique is great for younger skin to achieve a glow. It is best performed within 2 days of the event.

ReSet offers bundles and packages so that an entire “portrait” plan can be set if desired, addressing from the décolleté up so that a youthful appearance doesn’t stop at the chin!

To help you better understand the Cyro T-Shock process, we answer some of your most frequently asked questions!

How Does Cryo T-Shock Work?

To understand how it works, it’s important to learn not only what T-Shock does to kill fat cells, but also how those cells are eliminated and why the skin isn’t damaged.

According to the U.S. supplier of the device, Skin Science Solutions, “Where the application of cold alone—as in cryoliposis—has been shown to break down fat cells which can contribute to the unsightly appearance of cellulite, a thermal shock goes a step further in eliminating the cells from the body through lymphatic drainage for more immediate and effective results. Using alternating cycles of hot and cold, thermal shock kills fat cells and reverses the signs of cellulite by increasing blood flow and circulation, stimulating the production of collagen, and improving overall skin elasticity.”

For applications like the anti-aging facial, the program promotes skin firmness and helps with microcirculation, increasing the blood flow to capillaries by as much as 400%, which increases collagen and elastin production while tightening muscles.

Skin Science Solutions goes on to add, “Skin ages due to a reduction in collagen and elastin. By increasing oxygen and nutrient supply to the tissue, thermal shock promotes a more youthful appearance. When applied to the face and neck, consistently, this contrast therapy stimulates the production of collagen and improves skin elasticity, effectively smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

Other benefits include reducing puffiness around the eyes, giving the impression of reduced pore size on the face and neck while lessening inflammation. Not to mention that while skin vessels and capillaries undergo a period of vasoconstriction to break down toxins stored in skin layers; an alternating cycle of vasodilatation efficiently expels the toxins from the body. This process paves the way for healthy skin cells to emerge for a taut, more supple appearance of facial skin.”

What Will a Treatment Appointment Be Like?

We make you as comfortable as possible! You’ll settle into a private room on a slightly heated massage table. There is soft music in the room and low lights so that you can totally relax.

cryotherapy roomCryo T-Shock treatments use precise combinations of warm and cold temperatures delivered to the surface of your skin. The technician uses a wand with a smooth metal disc that glides over the gel applied to your skin. The temperature ranges of each treatment are dependent upon the type of appointment and are precisely programmed to even the body part being addressed to garner the best results. A certified technician delivers the treatment and ensures that the appropriate ranges are maintained.

During fat and cellulite reduction treatments, there’s a prolonged period of cold, so it’s common to experience some numbness in the treated area. Any numbness will quickly subside following the completion of the treatment. Some clients will experience a period of “bloating” following the treatment. This is due to the body sending blood in an attempt to warm the treated area. This too will quickly subside.

How Cryo T-Shock is Different from Other Therapies

cryo skinYou may be wondering what makes Cyro T-Shock different from cryotherapy. Cryo, or cold therapy, is one of the simplest and oldest methods of treating injuries. Cryotherapy has been used for decades in sports medicine to help treat soft tissue injuries, reduce swelling, and relieve pain. In recent years, the benefits of cryotherapy have led it to develop into so much more than an ice pack on a sprained ankle. You may have seen a professional athlete in an unbelievably cold cryo-chamber, or you might have received a cold treatment administered by a physical therapist or chiropractor. Maybe you’ve seen someone taking an ice plunge in a frozen lake. These are all examples of cryotherapy.

Cryo T-Shock vs. Cryotherapy

Cryo simply means cold, so cryotherapy is the administration of cold treatment. Cryotherapy is only one piece of the Cryo T-Shock system. The “T” in T-Shock stands for “thermal,” which is what sets the Cryo T-Shock system apart. During treatments, the Cryo T-Shock system alternates from hot to cold creating “shocks,” which provoke therapeutic benefits that cold therapy alone cannot produce. The combination of hot and cold treatments make the Cryo T-Shock a powerful tool for soft tissue recovery, but it also produces benefits far beyond injury support.

Cryotherapy alone, while proven effective in pain relief and recovery, is incapable of reducing fat and cellulite and toning skin. It is the dual action of cryo and thermal applications that allows the Cryo T-Shock to treat cosmetic conditions effectively, painlessly, and naturally.

Cyro T-Shock vs. Coolsculpting

The unique pairing of hot and cold makes Cryo T-Shock unmatched by other non-surgical cosmetic treatment modalities. CoolSculpting is the most comparable treatment on the market, but because it is limited to the cold application only, it falls short of what the Cryo T-Shock can do. CoolSculpting treatments are limited to fat freezing in certain areas of the body and can be quite uncomfortable. Unlike CoolSculpting, the thermal power of the Cryo T-Shock system gives it the power to treat any part of the body. It also increases effectiveness not only for fat removal but also on wrinkles and cellulite and is in most cases a relaxing experience.

Understanding the Cryo T-Shock Difference

So why is this hot and cold treatment method so much more effective than cryo alone? The pairing of the thermal and cryo components of the Cryo T-Shock system induces lipolysis, which is the destruction of fat cells. When lipolysis occurs, the cells that store fat cannot survive. When these fat cells are destroyed, many of them are eliminated during the treatment and the rest are later flushed away by the lymphatic system. ReSet Lounge also offers many treatments that support lymphatic drainage and can further support your Cryo T-Shock treatment.

Not only does this hot and cold method effectively eliminate fat, but it is also a powerful tool for stimulating collagen and elastin production in the skin. Cellulite is caused by a weakening of the tissues between the skin and muscle. As the tissue weakens, the texture of the fat layer beneath the skin becomes more visible. When collagen and elastin production increases, this tissue becomes stronger, allowing for a smoother, more youthful appearance. Results from a Cryo T-Shock session are often visible after only one treatment.

If you're looking for an effective and non-invasive option for muscle recovery, cellulite, and fat reduction, or more youthful skin, look into our Cryo T-Shock treatment options to see what’s right for you.
