Meet Dr. Alana

This parenting thing can be tricky!

We all need support once in a while to navigate our parenting journey. It's definitely not a straight path.

A listening ear, a practical tip, a word of encouragement is sometimes all you need. Parent coaching can offer that support you’re looking for. It's a safe way to explore, learn, and show up the way you want to for yourself and your children.

Knowledge & Experience  Made Practical.

Q: What’s your approach?

A: You can expect a playful yet science-based approach. I weave brain and body science into group and individual sessions, so you can better understand your child’s emotions and behavior. You can share your parenting oopses and wins in a safe, caring space. Oopses transform to learning opportunities. Wins are celebrated. We can have fun with role plays so you feel better prepared to try things out at home. We can incorporate exercises to help you get out of your head and into your heart so new parenting ideas really stick (something called somatic work). I’m your guide on the side who will offer practical strategies to experiment with in between sessions. You’ll build your new parenting habits as you “try” an approach and “spy” what happens.

Q: Who do you partner with?

A: I partner with any parent or caregiver (example: grandparent, teacher, nanny) who’s ready to grow their awareness and skills and create new habits. Someone who’s curious, willing to experiment with new ideas, and committed to creating the family life they want. I welcome parents and caregivers from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences—including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity & expression, sexual orientation, age, and disability—creating an inclusive environment where you can be yourself. It’s my mission to create an open and safe space for you to explore, learn, and grow.

Q: What’s your background and experience?

A: I have 10 + years of experience working with parents and children in schools, hospitals, at home, and in private practice. I received my BA in Psychology from The Ohio State University and PhD in School and Pediatric Psychology from The University of South Florida. I completed a two-year fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital then worked at Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital before opening my own practice in 2017. I worked as a licensed child psychologist providing therapy to children and families. Through my experience, I observed an undeniable pattern: Parents have the power to transform their families. My heart let me know it was time close my therapy practice, and I began coaching full-time. There's no question in my mind that when parents grow, children grow!

Q: What do you specialize in?

A: Emotions, Emotional Regulation, Tantrums, Sensory Overload (aka: Meltdowns), Parent-Child Communication, Separation Challenges, Sibling Relationships, Transitions, Sleep, Establishing Healthy Family Routines & Rituals, Limit & Boundary Setting, Supporting Highly Sensitive/Deeply Feeling Children, and Parenting on the Same Team. I integrate Acceptance and Commitment, Attachment, Conscious Discipline/Parenting, Mindfulness, Neuroscience, Trauma-informed, & Somatic approaches in the parent coaching experience. No one size fits all. I tailor the experience to best meet you where you’re at.
