NuCalm FAQ

What does NuCalm feel like?

NuCalm feels like you’re drifting peacefully off to sleep even though you won’t actually fall asleep.  You’ll be hovering just at the edge of sleep, feeling weightless.  Your mind may be wandering but your body feels as if it’s in a deep sleep.

Am I going to fall asleep on NuCalm?

NuCalm is not a sleep aid or device but rather a deep relaxation and stress management technology.  It takes you to Theta brain wavelength so that you’re hovering just above sleep in a “meditative” state.  Note that if you are sleep deprived you may very well slip in and out of sleep at points during your session.

Why the eyemask?

The first step to all-natural relaxation is blocking out light to eliminate visual stimuli and maintain a deep state of relaxation.

I have claustrophobia, what if that eyemask doesn't work for me?

We also have light blocking eyeglasses.

What is this disc on my wrist?

The disc is the “magic” that simplifies the process of calming the body.

Each bio signal processing disc holds the frequency patterns of GABA, a neurotransmitter that blocks impulses between nerve cells in the brain. Researchers have found that GABA can boost mood and have a calming and relaxing effect on the nervous system.

When placed on the inside of your left wrist (your Pericardium-6 acupuncture point to be exact), the disc sends a signal to your heart to activate parasympathetic nerve fibers, which then transmit the signals to your brain. This mimics your body’s normal transition to a peaceful, restorative night’s sleep.

What’s the music all about?

The “music” – is a neuroacoustic software that delivers frequencies to your brain that guide you to Theta brain wave lengths.  The Theta brain waves are the restorative “healing” zone.

What are the side effects of NuCalm?

Most people experience only positive side effects, such as increased energy, improved sleep quality and an overall reduction in stress.

With over a million NuCalm sessions worldwide, there has not been a single reported adverse event – no one has reported a serious negative event related to a NuCalm session.

Can I resume my day immediately after a NuCalm session?

Recovery takes about 2-5 minutes, so you are perfectly capable of returning to any normal activity, including work, driving, sports, etc., within minutes.

How often and how long can I NuCalm?

NuCalm recommends 2-4 times a week, 20 min minimum to help the body relax, restore and recover.  Sleep deprivation, poor sleep quality, stress, jetlag, illness, injury are all factors that will affect the needed length and frequency of your sessions.

What’s the best time to use NuCalm?

Anytime that is workable in your schedule.  Although, ideally, the best time to NuCalm is during the afternoon “lull” where your body naturally feels tired.  Additionally, morning sessions give you an energized and focused start to your day.

NuCalm evening sessions will leave you relaxed but energized so we don’t recommend you NuCalm immediately before you’re planning on going to bed.

I think my child might benefit from this.  Are there any age restrictions?

Children under 5 should not use the NuCalm Disc, but may listen to the neuroacoustic software ambiently.

Can I still use NuCalm if I'm taking prescription medications?

Yes. The natural ingredients in NuCalm won’t interact with your medication. Unless explicitly told to avoid NuCalm or any of its components, there is no concern.
