What is PEMF Therapy?

Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy uses gentle energy waves that interact with your body’s natural magnetic field. With FDA‑cleared technology and a non‑invasive approach, PEMF can be a comforting addition to your routine, supporting cellular function and overall balance as part of your broader wellness plan

What are PEMF Benefits?

Does PEMF reduce inflammation?

Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy is being studied for its potential effects on comfort, circulation, and recovery. Some people choose PEMF as a complementary approach when they’re dealing with everyday aches or stiffness and feel it helps them move more comfortably. Because every body is different, experiences vary, and PEMF at Reset Lounge is offered as part of a wellness routine.

Does PEMF Therapy help with athletic performance?

Many athletes incorporate PEMF therapy into their wellness routines to support recovery between training sessions and feel more comfortable during active lifestyles. Research shows PEMF may enhance circulation, muscle oxygenation, and cellular energy production, which some athletes find helps with endurance and reduced soreness after intense workouts. At Reset Lounge, we use FDA-registered PEMF technology as a gentle, non-invasive complement to your training—experiences vary, and it’s not a substitute for medical care or performance enhancement therapy.

Does PEMF Therapy help with pain reduction?

Clinical studies show PEMF therapy has been associated with pain reduction in various conditions, including osteoarthritis (up to 60% VAS reduction), fibromyalgia, postsurgical pain, and chronic neck pain.1235

Does PEMF Therapy help you recover from injury faster?

Clinical studies show PEMF therapy can accelerate wound healing and recovery times in specific injury types. For example, PEMF significantly reduced recovery times for diabetes-related foot ulcers and pressure ulcers compared to controls, with 50% of pressure ulcers healing completely or improving substantially.1 It also supports faster muscle cell proliferation (up to 20% increase) and wound closure after muscle injuries.5

Can PEMF be combines with any other services at Reset Lounge?

At Reset Lounge, we also offer stacked sessions, where you can enjoy PEMF and red light therapy at the same time. Many guests love combining these gentle, non‑invasive modalities in a single visit to support relaxation, recovery, and an overall sense of balance.

Are there contraindications?

Absolute Contraindications:

  • Implanted Electrical Devices: This is a critical contraindication for any PEMF therapy, regardless of intensity. Magnetic fields can interfere with the function of devices like pacemakers, cochlear implants, intrathecal pumps, insulin pumps, spinal cord stimulators, etc., potentially causing them to malfunction.
  • Pregnancy: The safety of PEMF therapy during pregnancy has not been established. Most PEMF companies advise against its use during pregnancy, and it’s best to avoid it unless specifically approved by a doctor.

Relative Contraindications and Precautions:

  • Epilepsy: Some research suggests electromagnetic fields could potentially trigger seizures in individuals with epilepsy. Consult a doctor before using PEMF therapy if you have epilepsy.
  • Active Bleeding Disorders: PEMF therapy may affect blood flow, so individuals with active bleeding disorders should be cautious and consult their doctor.
  • Children (undergoing growth): PEMF therapy stimulates cell membrane processes, including bone calcification and increased blood circulation, which may not be suitable for children who haven’t completed their growth phase.
  • Magnetizable Prostheses: While newer prostheses are generally safe, if you have a prosthesis and are unsure of its material, consult your doctor. Older magnetizable prostheses could potentially interact with the electromagnetic fields.
  • Overactive Glands (Adrenal or Thyroid): Use caution if you have hyperfunction of the thyroid or adrenal glands as PEMF therapy could potentially overstimulate them.
  • Fungal Infections: PEMF therapy can potentially worsen fungal infections.
  • Active Infections: Avoid high-frequency PEMF (above 100 Hz) if you have an active infection.
  • Tumors: PEMF therapy is listed as a contraindication in relation to tumors.
  • Severe Arrhythmias: Use caution, especially with high-intensity PEMF near the heart, if you’re prone to cardiac dysrhythmias.
  • Certain Medical Conditions: Specific conditions like tuberculosis, juvenile diabetes, acute viral diseases, mycosis (fungal infections), and psychosis are also listed as contraindications in some sources.
  • Over Breast Implants (High-Frequency PEMF): Never use high-frequency PEMF (above 100 Hz) over a breast implant.

Is the PEMF mat you use FDA‑registered, and how is it used at Reset Lounge?

Yes. Our OMI PEMF mat is an FDA‑registered and CE‑certified device, designed to meet safety and quality standards. At Reset Lounge, we use this gentle, non‑invasive mat in a wellness setting to support relaxation, recovery, and your overall sense of balance as part of your self‑care routine.

Is PEMF therapy FDA‑approved, and what has it been used for medically?

Some pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) devices are FDA‑cleared for specific medical uses, such as supporting bone healing and certain types of pain. Our PEMF sessions at Reset Lounge use an FDA‑registered mat within a non‑medical, wellness setting to gently support your body’s natural processes.

Are PEMF Sessions available with the Reset Lounge memberships?

Yes. PEMF therapy sessions are available as part of our Reset Membership. Members can use their sessions toward PEMF, along with other selected services, creating a flexible wellness routine that fits their needs and schedule.

PEMF can also be enjoyed by non-members.
